The A-side to this single is the opening track off the upcoming album The Sounds of Rain, due out Christmas Day 2014. It's very Middle-Eastern influenced, and I almost threw together a doumbek loop for the middle section but decided against it because it seemed too cheesy.
The B-side is an acoustic demo I wrote after watching LiamSixx stream Earthbound the day before releasing this single. It's a short demo on the iOS version of GarageBand, all the guitar parts are provided by my acoustic. Funny story, right after recording the last part on it, my phone died, and I had to wait until it booted up again after putting it on the charger before I could see if I had to redo anything. The file was exported to iTunes 20 minutes after midnight, and was written in maybe 10 minutes.
To put it shortly, Liam jammed out on his guitar during the stream, so I pulled mine out to noodle around, then the game crashed and Liam broke (he just sat there playing the Saturn Valley theme for a few minutes), so I penned this quick melancholy track and named it after Earthbound. It is a very rough demo though, no processing was done after exporting from GarageBand. It might pop up in the future as a completed track, though all that would be done would be rerecording everything, since I can't hear this with clean guitars at all. This is definitely an acoustic track, somewhat of a rarity in my work.
